Cision Blog

Cision is a public relations software that helps monitor media by using press releases and media list building. It is useful for public relations practitioners, because all of the information is right there which makes it easy to use. In the article, "Cision Hosts Social Media Week Session on Content Marketing and PR" professionals use their products to help manage all aspects of their brands: from identifying key media and influencers to connecting with audiences.
A feature that was the most interesting was the influence rating. The lowest rating was zero and the highest rating was 99. Each page for a media outlet would have a specific number for the influence rating. This article explains that outlets are measured on both their reach and the sharing activity they generate on the Web. Other Cision tools include searching media calendars and creating or editing lists.
Cision is useful in creating relationships, because it is easy to send out a press release and then connect with a journalist by following up with an e-mail. It could also be vice-versa by sending the e-mail first and then sending out a press release. It's a great way to open doors and start connecting with as many journalists or reporters as possible.
It was surprising at how expensive it is use Cision. Cision offers a free demo, but after that then there are several options to choose from. There is a solo edition which is only used for one user. Next is the team edition for three users. The corporate edition is next and includes five users. Last is the agency edition which doesn't have a specified user amount. The higher the edition the more it includes.  Pricing starts as low as $350 a month. The bigger the company the more expensive it is to use Cision.

Blog 4

I just watched many different videos regarding public relations, marketing and social media. My first favorite video is by Rick Daniels http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbZ4VJQ2r_U. He is so passionate and personable about helping students and the Greek life. He tries so hard every day about portraying a good image for himself and the Greek community. He gave really great advice to keep everything that we used in school. The best advice he gave was to be aggressive about internships. The second video I really liked was by Al Krueger. He said that his professors would push him so that he could do his best. I really like when professors push their students so that they are more prepared for their future. I like how he explained that there is no average day in public relations. I like how public relations is always exciting, new and fresh. The third video I like is by Jennie Krajeck http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsJ9ppK3bFM . She made me even more excited for my future. It is very interesting how she progressed in her career path from being an intern to a foundation coordinator. She has worked so hard to be at the position she is at today. Her video is very inspiring and motivating, because it made me want to work harder so I can work my way up at a business too. It is very important to do what you love, because then it is like you are never working a day in your life.

AP style is being able to write effectively using the correct grammar and punctuation. There are always the basics when it comes to writing, but it is always best to makes the fewest mistakes possible. As stated in the article  "Why I Am an AP Style Stickler" written by Arika Daniels, there are common errors that still occur. There is no comma before "and" in a series. Even I have made this error a couple of times. It's such a simple sentence, but it is still easy to goof up by adding that extra not wanted comma.
Writing the wrong information could completely turn off the readers or media from even reading the rest of the article or any written document. It is very important to know the AP style because it just makes life easier. According to AP "Top 15" written by Gibson, this professor's guide is very handy when it comes to writing and editing your work. All of these hints are helpful to make writing easier. It can help a PR practitioner by starting them off on the right foot. If a person is learning AP style and continually practicing the correct usage of grammar and punctuation, then it will help prevent them from making mistakes. It can only help a writer prepare for the future. It can make news releases and fact sheets more relevant by creating less redundant of information.
If I was given an AP style quiz during an interview at an agency, then I would be confident from what I have learned this week to do well. I learned  a lot from the article "AP Style" because there was a lot of helpful ways to write correctly. There were helpful hints from  writing the correct way to abbreviate months when used with days and numerals or indicate time.
